Polymarket fires marketing chief Matthew Modabber after advertising review

Polymarket, the prediction market platform, has fired its chief marketing officer Matthew Modabber. The dismissal followed an internal investigation into the company's advertising practices, which became known on October 22.

Modabber joined Polymarket in 2024 and was among its first employees. He had worked closely with the company's founder and CEO Shayne Coplan for a long time.

The review focused on videos with staged bets, work with influencers without sufficiently clear disclosure of advertising, and the display of simulated trades as real customer wins. The company did not disclose details of the review.

Neither Polymarket nor Modabber has publicly commented on the dismissal. The company is reportedly preparing a separation agreement, the terms of which are not known. Polymarket has also said nothing about a possible stock market listing.

For partners and buyers working with prediction markets, the key question is whether the company will change its rules for working with influencers and its disclosure requirements. No such statements have been made so far.
