Uganda’s National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) has taken its responsible gambling campaign to Mbarara, engaging local residents on gambling risks and support available to people experiencing gambling-related problems.
The regulator’s responsible gaming team visited local markets, speaking directly with residents, gathering community feedback and explaining the potential consequences of excessive gambling. The campaign also focused on protecting vulnerable groups and reducing gambling-related harm.
NLGRB also highlighted its confidential counselling and rehabilitation services for people struggling to control their gambling behaviour.
The regulator advises consumers to treat gambling as entertainment, set spending and time limits and avoid chasing losses.
The Mbarara campaign forms part of NLGRB’s wider responsible gambling programme, which includes public awareness, education, training, research, counselling and rehabilitation.
The Board has previously conducted similar awareness activities across Uganda, including outreach to students, market traders, boda boda riders and local communities.
