On October 19, 2026, Meta launched the “Choose an audience for each ad creative” feature in the Marketing API; in the API it is called creative audience pairing. Within a single ad set, each video or image can be assigned its own age and gender. For now, the feature is available only to Marketing API partners: agencies, buying platforms and in-house tools. It is not available in the Ads Manager interface.
Activation takes two steps. First, the ad set confirms participation via the creative_audience_pairing parameter in the targeting_automation block. Then each ad, and in a multimedia ad each image or video, is assigned a persona with an age and gender. This affects eight Graph API v26.0 endpoints at the ad set, ad and creative levels.
The restrictions are strict. The ad set must remain broad: minimum age 18 to 25, maximum 65, gender “all”. The feature cannot be combined with the Advantage+ audience or with age and gender suggestions at the ad level. The API rejects requests that violate these conditions.
Meta itself cites examples such as retirement videos for ages 50–65, savings accounts for all ages, and women's and men's sweaters. However, for the “Financial products and services” category, the Meta documentation on special ad categories sets age at 18–65+ and gender at “all”. The announcement does not say whether the new feature works in this category. For financial offers, it is better not to rely on age targeting until Meta clarifies this.
Meta has not named a general launch schedule. It suggested partners test the feature starting October 19. If you run ads through an intermediary service, check with them whether support is enabled.
