Search interest in gambling addiction and support for problem gambling has increased sharply over the past five years. An analysis of Google Trends data covering 2020–2025 found that searches for “gambling addiction” rose by 95%, “gambling help” increased by 191%, and “gambling hotline” jumped by 357%.
The figures measure changes in relative search interest, not raw search volumes, meaning they should not be interpreted as a direct increase in the number of people experiencing gambling addiction.
The trend nevertheless points to growing interest in problem gambling, ways to seek help and available support resources.
