Instagram now lets creators add direct affiliate links to Reels.

Instagram has taken a major step forward in social commerce. Creators can now add affiliate links directly to their Reels, tag products, and earn commissions on sales without forcing viewers to leave the app. The feature was officially announced by Instagram head Adam Mosseri and is currently rolling out in selected countries.

What changed and how it works

Previously, Reels creators had to rely on workarounds: link in bio, stickers in Stories, or calls to message in DMs. Now everything is much simpler and more effective.

When publishing a Reel, a new Add Products option has appeared in the “Share” menu. Creators can:

  • Paste a direct affiliate URL for any product.
  • Search and tag products from verified brand catalogs.

You can tag up to 30 products in a single Reel. Viewers simply tap the tag and are taken straight to the product page (in the brand’s app or mobile site) where they can make a purchase instantly. The creator earns a commission automatically.

Meta does not take an extra cut - earnings go directly according to the terms of your affiliate program.

Who has access and where it’s available

In April 2026, the feature is in gradual rollout in the following countries: United States, India, Brazil, Indonesia, and Thailand. It is expected to expand to all 22 Instagram Shopping markets in the coming weeks and months.

Account requirements:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Public account
  • At least 1,000 followers
  • Compliance with Instagram’s Partner Monetization Policies
