Macau Gross Gaming Revenue Falls 10% Year on Year in October

Gross gaming revenue (GGR) at Macau's casinos totalled MOP$21.68 billion (US$2.69 billion) in October, or 21.68 billion patacas (about $2.7 billion at the exchange rate as of November 2). That is 10% lower than in October 2025. The regulator DICJ published the data on November 1.

Compared with September, the figure rose 20%, when casinos earned MOP18.06 billion. October benefited from the National Day Golden Week holiday as well as events like the NBA China Games at The Venetian Macao early in the month. The gain helped, but it did not offset the annual decline.

October marked the fifth straight month of year-on-year GGR declines. It was also the second-largest annual fall so far this year. October last year brought in MOP24.09 billion, so this year's result is MOP2.41 billion lower.

Macau's cumulative GGR for the first ten months of 2026 totalled MOP208.79 billion (US$25.89 billion, or about US$25.9 billion), up 1.6% year on year. The October drop trimmed the gain, but the ten-month figure stayed in positive territory.

The third quarter was weaker. A sharp drop in mass baccarat was the main reason industry GGR fell 3.7% year on year and 1.3% quarter on quarter in 3Q26, to MOP$60.4 billion (US$7.47 billion), according to DICJ data.

For affiliates and buyers working with traffic from Macau, the takeaway is this: a monthly rebound does not cancel the annual decline. The holiday month and event lineup did not push the market into year-on-year growth.

The government will decide on the 2026 forecast of 236 billion patacas after reviewing October data. Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai had said the government would review October performance before deciding whether to keep its 2026 GGR forecast of MOP236bn (US$29.2bn).
