GBank Loses 84.6% of Gaming Interchange After Operators Drop Credit Cards

Interchange income at GBank, the Las Vegas bank that serves the gambling industry, fell 84.6% in the third quarter of 2026 on gaming transactions made with credit cards, to $0.3 million. Parent company GBank Financial Holdings (NASDAQ: GBFH) reported its third-quarter 2026 results: net income was $3.9 million, or $0.27 per diluted share. In the second quarter it was $5.5 million, and a year earlier $4.3 million.

Net revenue dropped by $1.6 million, or 7.3%, to $20.3 million. The company linked this to lower net interchange fees and a smaller volume of loans sold. Non-interest income fell from $9.1 million to $6.7 million, mainly because net interchange declined by $1.5 million.

Credit card gaming transaction volume totaled $19.5 million. The company blamed the interchange drop on changes in how several large sportsbooks let customers fund accounts with credit cards. President and CEO Jeff Newgard pointed to a decision by several major sports betting operators to stop accepting credit cards as a funding source.

Net interest margin rose to 3.95% from 3.78% in the second quarter. Net interest income grew 6.4% to $13.6 million.

Average inflows from the gaming business and fintech operations rose from roughly $29.9 million in July to $30.9 million in September. The company called this an encouraging early sign. At the same time, the strategy is long-term, and it will not have a noticeable effect on results in the near future.

On products: Distill Taverns launched the BoltBetz app across all nine of its Las Vegas locations in September. Terrible's is expected to roll out BoltBetz at three venues in early November, with full deployment planned for 2027. The company expects to complete the integration of BVNKROLL payment infrastructure with the AXES casino management system by the end of 2026. The launch of the LuckyLoads prepaid card has been postponed to the second quarter of 2027.
