Kazakhstan's Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market has amended a number of rules for banks and other financial organizations. The changes that affect gambling payments take effect Oct. 16.
The agency's board adopted Resolution No. 134 on Sept. 28. The agency published the document on its website on Oct. 12.
The changes include automatic detection of suspicious transactions linked to online casinos, bookmakers and illegal crypto exchanges.
The amendments also change how borrowers are assessed. A client will be considered actively involved in gambling if, over the previous six months, they made at least six payments to gambling organizers totaling more than 300,000 tenge. Only official data will be used to assess the income of such borrowers.
Online casino operations are banned in Kazakhstan.
